Dan is a skilled and experienced welfare benefits expert and trainer, having worked in the benefits sector for nearly twenty years.

He worked in the benefits department of various local authorities for ten years, gaining firsthand experience of the impact benefits and welfare reform have on members of the public and on the organisations that work with them. As a freelance consultant he has worked with professional deputies, the employment and skills sector, social housing, charities and local authorities, providing expert training and consultancy on Universal Credit, the benefits system and financial assessments for care.

Highlights include:
~ Providing detailed welfare benefit reviews for Court of Protection Deputies and professional appointees
~ Consultancy for the BBC series EastEnders on welfare benefits
~ Supporting The Guardian’s budget coverage with analysis of welfare impacts
~ Designing and delivering a three day course on social care financial assessments for Escalla
~ Designing and delivering a two day course on welfare benefits for Reed in Partnership
